Welcome to Lake Lanier, Georgia History In 1946 Army Engineers conceived the idea of a dam, in 1957 it began to fill and Buford Dam was ‘born’. In the beginning Buford Dam and Lake Sidney Lanier were more than an Army Engineer project, they were key links in a series of water projects constructed to develop the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway as part of a larger goal of bolstering national defense and augmentation of Southern resources. The mighty rivers of the Chattahoochee & Chestatee combine to create Buford Dam and Lake Lanier. The lake is named for 19th century poet Sidney Lanier, whose love of the areas scenic views inspired him to compose “Song of the Chattahoochee”. Lake Lanier encompasses 38,000 acres; it is the largest man-made lake near a metropolitan area in the nation. Modern Day Lake Lanier The modern day purposes of the lake include floor control, storing drinking water for metro area residents, and of course recreational activities. Over 7.5 million people per year visit the lake. It is extremely popular with boaters, house boats, jet-skiers, fishers, and picnickers, as well as the Lake Lanier Islands Waterpark. In 1996 the lake was used for rowing events during the Summer Olympics. In addition there are many commercial attractions, including convention facilities, championship golf, resort hotels, floating marinas, and several sailing clubs. Homes on Lake Lanier Home owners enjoy lake front living year around, many say it is like being on vacation each night when you come home from the daily grind. Accepting An Offer >Offers and Counter Offers
Many of the offers real agents submit for prospective buyers aren't exactly what the sellers want. The price may be lower than they are asking or there might be terms included in the offer that will require negotiation. What happens after the offer is submitted?
The seller's real estate agent will present the offer to the sellers, along with the buyer's qualifications. If the sellers accept the offer, then a purchase agreement is written and signed by both parties. If the sellers counter the offer, the next action is initiated by the buyers when they make a response, either accepting the counter offer or countering it with yet another figure. If you want to buy a particular house, your chances of succeeding are greater if your initial offer is as close to the asking price as possible. You could save money by engaging in lengthy negotiations, but you run the risk of losing the home if a more attractive offer comes in from another buyer.
